Scholarship Application

The BYU FlexGE Scholarship is a need-based award that helps FlexGE students succeed by making school more affordable. Awards are given up to 75% of the cost of tuition and require a minimum number of enrolled credits. Starting in Fall 2026, the scholarship application is included in the admissions application. To be considered for scholarships, you must apply for scholarships when you apply to the program.

Students admitted prior to Fall 2026 will be considered for scholarships based on past scholarship applications. 

When Will I Hear Back?

The scholarship committee meets shortly before each semester begins. Scholarship award notifications will be sent to your BYU email account and will include important and timely instructions on how to obtain scholarship funds. Scholarship funds are disbursed to your financial account after you submit your thank you letter. Changes to your registered credits after the tuition payment deadline will adjust the award amount.  If at any point you fall below the minimum credit hour requirement, your scholarship will be canceled and you will be responsible for any tuition charges and/or withdrawal fees. 

How long is the scholarship for?

Scholarship awards are for one semester/term at a time. Students who receive a scholarship will be considered automatically for up to three total semesters/terms in the FlexGE program, as long as they continue to meet the scholarship criteria listed below. 
A new scholarship application is not required for each semester/term of continued consideration. After eligibility for the upcoming term is reviewed, students who receive a subsequent scholarship award will be notified through their BYU email. Scholarship Criteria
